These Moments Were Never Small

I have everything I need now, at this very moment.

There was a time I thought a good life would feel bigger than this: louder, fancier, filled with moments I could never forget.

I remember watching my grandma. She would sit by the window each morning with a simple cup of tea, not doing anything remarkable, just watching the light slowly fill the room. Back then, I didn’t understand it. It felt too small, almost like time was being wasted. There were always more things to do, more places to go, more ways life could be “better.”

And now, I found myself in a quiet morning that looked very much like hers. Nothing extraordinary had happened, just soft light on the table with a slice of sourdough still warm, a moment that asked nothing from me. I didn’t rush past it. I stayed. I noticed how full it felt, even in its simplicity. And it struck me, gently, that perhaps this was what she had known all along.

We often wait for life to announce itself in bigger ways, but it rarely does. It lives here instead,in the in-between, in the ordinary, in the small moments we always overlook. The truth is, these are not the pauses between life. They are our life.

So if today feels quiet, let it be. If nothing remarkable seems to be happening, look again. Let the light linger a little longer, let the conversation stretch, let yourself stay where you are. You don’t need more to make this moment meaningful, you only need to be here for it.

Because one day, these small, gentle moments will be the ones you remember. And you will realise that they were never small at all.
